All the little things that catch my eye...!






Put simply, Ryan Malakai Coughlan is a 33 year old Brighton/London based media whore, nosey, demanding, inquisitive, outspoken and loud but most of all passionate. This may sound a bit harsh but it is an honest and somewhat brutal way of summing up his unique ability to capture moments in a instant regardless of where he is, who he is with and whatever the occasion. Put another way Ryan has the amazing ability and insight to be able to take pictures, see images and collate information in ways that pass most of us by. He has a way of capturing the moment, a Brighton sunset, post club partying with London's Club elite, a journey home by bus or train or simply watching the world as it crashes past his eyes, something always stands out and either with his mobile phone, digital camera or simply copy/paste on his Mac, the image then becomes his.........
and now with his blog.........ours.

His career in advertising, his love of music, interest in architecture, desire for perfection, amazing friends, wonderful family are all part of his perception of whats around him and most importantly what stands out. For example: a before and after shot of Madonna (he adores her) showing what photoshop can do for the biggest of stars, a snap of his pet cat Missy that looks spookily like the cat is posing for the camera, a beach party at 6am on Brighton beach capturing the drunken excess of the night before. Each image will have unique twist, the look in someones eye, the colour of the sunset, the clouds of grey over Brighton pier, a discarded cola can on an empty tube train, taking the image from obvious to outstanding, in essence making us look again at something we have seen countless times before with
new eyes.

When Ryan captures something it stands out and draws you in, making simple things seem deeply complicated or making you think about what the picture is saying or not saying. Quintessentially Ryan is a voyeur, a voyeur of absolutely everything in his vision, he filters out of everyday life images that make you think and make you smile...sometimes. As he flicks through magazines, downloads music, catches a tube, gets drunk with mates or just taking pictures on his camera you know that Ryan is processing an image in his mind of something that we all can see, but he sees it in a different light, from a different perspective. And thats what makes his blog so interesting and so unique, from music to fashion, films to politics, celebrities to gay porn star's, his take on the world is razor sharp, sometimes twisted often heart warming, but always hugely intriguing.

Oh and did I mention... He likes the colour yellow!?!
